PSHE

Our Mission Statement and Curriculum Drivers

Our PSHE curriculum, in line with national guidance, helps pupils develop the knowledge, skills, and values needed for a healthy, safe, and fulfilling life. At The Oratory, we place great importance on personal development, relationships, and wellbeing. Pupils are encouraged to care for themselves and others, making a positive difference in school and beyond — shining as lights of kindness, resilience, and respect.

Our Curriculum Intent

At The Oratory, our PSHE and RSHE curriculum follows statutory guidance and aims to equip children with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to lead healthy, safe, and fulfilling lives. We provide a progressive and age-appropriate approach that supports pupils’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development, helping them to form positive relationships and make responsible choices. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, we promote Dignity of the Human Person and Solidarity, ensuring that children understand respect for themselves and others, celebrate diversity, and contribute to the common good. Through RSHE, we teach pupils about love, responsibility, and the importance of family life in a way that reflects our Catholic faith and mission.

Our Curriculum Implementation

At The Oratory, we implement our PSHE and RSHE curriculum using the TenTen Catholic Framework, which provides a structured, age-appropriate, and faith-based approach to teaching personal, social, and health education. This ensures that pupils learn about healthy relationships, personal safety, and emotional wellbeing in a way that reflects our Catholic values and mission. Through engaging lessons, prayer opportunities, and discussion, children develop respect for themselves and others, understand responsibility, and grow in virtue, linking their learning to Catholic Social Teaching.
