Online Safety
Online Safety is a shared responsibility between school, home, and the wider community, ensuring children are safe, respectful, and responsible while using the internet. In school, we use Smoothwall to provide effective filtering and monitoring of online activity, helping to protect pupils from potential risks—and it's just as important that this level of care and supervision continues at home.
How do we teach Online Safety at school?
Online Safety is taught consistently throughout the academic year to ensure children develop a strong understanding of how to stay safe online. At the beginning of each computing lesson, pupils are reminded of the importance of using the internet responsibly and safely. In addition, a dedicated Online Safety lesson is delivered at the start of each half term using resources from PurpleMash, reinforcing key messages in an age-appropriate and engaging way. We also take part in national events such as Safer Internet Day, which helps to highlight current issues and encourage positive online behaviour across the school community.
